SANDRA has been knitting, crocheting and sewing since she was a young child. A native to the Pittsburgh region and owner of two dance studios for the past forty years, Sandra was keen to begin a new adventure in her life.
She always dreamed of owning a yarn boutique. Fortunately, this dream was spurred by an injury to her knee from dance. With the help and partnership of Tamara, daughter, the adventure began. Sandra likes to keep busy by teaching dance, working at the boutique, spending time with her family & grandkids and walking her dog.
TAMARA and her mother, Sandy, began this adventure in 2006. Tamara being a novice to the fiber arts industry, she was ready to expand and learn. Thus, the beginning of Yarns By Design.

After receiving her bachelors in Architecture at Virginia Polytechnic Institute, Tamara and her husband moved back to the Pittsburgh area to raise their family.
Tamara has been able to incorporate her love of design by designing the YBD boutique and incorporating her sense of style in the knitted pieces she creates.
